The Housen Homecare Story
Founded in 1991, Housen Homecare began with the compassionate vision of a mother and daughter duo. Ms. Housen, after graduating from Andrews University, was determined to create a better care model—one that values the well-being of both caregivers and clients. We know that when caregivers are properly supported, they can offer superior, personalized care to the families they serve. This foundational commitment to quality and compassion remains part of our agency’s identity.
Today, Housen Homecare is under new management, led by Tommyjoe Sanchez, President of the organization. A service-disabled veteran, Tommyjoe proudly served in the United States military from 1987 to 1995 as a motor pool mechanic, working on generators, motorcycles, heavy expanded military tactical trucks, and other essential equipment. He was honorably discharged following a medical incident sustained during active duty.
Tommyjoe brings both leadership and lived experience to our organization, along with a deep commitment to the veteran, elderly, and disabled populations we serve. His passion for service is deeply personal, shaped by his own military background and his understanding of the needs of those who have served and sacrificed. That perspective continues to guide the care and values of Housen Homecare today.

While coping with the realities of caring for our own aging loved ones, we were confronted with administrative, personal, and economic challenges. Moreover, we noted that many service providers we met used a cookie-cutter approach to in-home care instead of assessing each family’s needs individually. Like many other families, we found it challenging to identify a credible Residential Service Agency (RSA) that met our needs. We realized that we weren’t alone in our frustration and that it was up to us to be the solution. With that in mind, we built a company that took a customized approach to homecare. A quarter of a century later, we’re still laser-focused on addressing our patients’ needs while considering the needs of their families.

Credentialed with the Veteran's Administration and contracted with various IHAS departments in Maryland. Our agency supports billing for private long-term care insurance providers and aids Veterans seeking long-term pension care services.
